    Hi Kaplan,

Brendan Hickey stated this very eloquently in his candidate's statement:

The bedrock principles of the open source are under attack:

No matter who you are, you can use open source software.
No matter what your purpose, you can use open source software.
No matter where you live, you can use open source software.
No matter who pays you (or doesn't), you can use open source software.

... An anti-open source abuse campaign has taken aim at so-called "cloud providers" who sell reliable, highly-available infrastructure. We've seen a parade of Trojan Horse licenses, holding themselves out as open source without really meaning it. We've read the demands that we capitulate our principles for the sake of "relevancy." With three members of the board terming out open source needs new defenders.

There's also this from Elena Hashman, your peer on the Debian project:

Recently, we've seen the proliferation of a number of new protectionist licenses, as corporations become more concerned about their open source projects being monetized by other corporations that don't contribute back. I think corporate sustainability and community sustainability are different things, and I'm concerned that the idea of "sustainability" is being co-opted by companies that define it as seeing greater financial returns from their open source projects.
Non-free licenses masquerading as "open source" jeopardize the free software commons. As a Debian Developer, I've made a commitment to the community to uphold the Debian Free Software Guidelines.

Also see these candidate statements: Jones, Skerret.

So, I'd like you to clarify your statement:

I think the OSI needs to address these changes (not just condemning the change) and to help such projects keep using an OSI approved license.

All of the licenses proposed recently, meant to fight cloud providers, give up fundamental rights presently guaranteed by Open Source, and so well stated by Brendan. Which of these rights would you be OK with giving up? And since the exact same rights are also Debian policy, would you change that? What is your plan?

Hello Lior, you mention you've served "on the board of a few technological associations in Israel." What have you learned during your time on the boards that you intend to bring to the OSI?
