== **About me:** ==

I have been involved with Free, Libre, Open Source Software (FLOSS) since 2008, and have spent the last three years serving on the Open Source Initiative Board of Directors.

I work at the Free Software Foundation (FSF) as the campaigns manager, organizing and educating around issues related to software freedom and ethics in technology. I am a Debian Developer, through which I am a delegate on the Outreach team organizing participation in Google Summer of Code and Outreachy, and a member of the Anti-harassment team. Previously, I was the community coordinator for the Open edX project and a research assistant studying youth and the internet at the Berkman (Klein) Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School. I volunteer with the Software Freedom Conservancy, and recently organized a $15,000 matching donation for their 2018 end of the year fundraiser.

I care deeply about the FLOSS community and ecosystem as a whole, and want to see it succeed in as many ways as possible. I would like to continue to serve on the OSI board for another three years to continue our work to build a better future though FLOSS.

I [[play in a band>>url:https://the-best-ever.bandcamp.com/]], ride a bike, [[blog about baking and FLOSS>>url:https://deblanc.net/blog]], and climb.

== **Why I am running for re-election** ==

Over the past three years I've served as a director on the Open Source Initiative board of directors. IMy time on the board has been productive and I would like to continue the work I've started. The OSI needs a working board: I understand what tthe job requires, and am able to put in the effort.

Being on a working board isn't glamorous ~-~- it involves long phone calls and meetings in exciting places you never get to see; following the Licensing-Discuss and Licensing-Review mailing lists in order to understand what is happening in the world of FLOSS licensing; and spending a lot of time thinking about what it means for software to be free and open. It's also fun ~-~- getting to share your excitement for FLOSS while you spend hours at conference booths; building a future for the greater FLOSS community; and spending time thinking and talking about FLOSS.

Concrete things I want to continue and start working on over the next three years include:

* building opportunities for affiliate engagement through regular calls with affiliates, providing them a space to share ideas and work with the OSI, but also share their current projects with one another;
* growing the OSI affiliate membership in measurable ways, especially among communities and geographies underrepresented in the OSI and the FLOSS community at large;
* creating the infrastructure for the individual members of OSI affiliates to join the OSI;
* increasing funding opportunities to expand and support the education, outreach, and standards work of the OSI;
* representing the OSI at events around the world; and
* providing a voice for the ideas behind user and software freedom and their necessity for building a strong future in a world with computing technology becoming increasingly present and pervasive.

I hope to continue serving on the OSI board of directors and working with my fellow directors on taking FLOSS to new heights.
