ABOUT ME

I have been a "woman in technology" since 1995. Initially working in software and hardware support, I moved to building websites in 1999, I initially worked in pure HTML and CSS, I then found PostNuke and began to build using it as my CMS of choice.  I was introduced to Mambo in late 2004 and then followed the fork to Joomla in late 2005.

I am a strong believer that the internet should be a publishing tool for anyone, no matter who they are or where they are from.  I believe that Open Source Matters and with the advancement of closed source SAAS solutions, now, more than ever we must promote and encourage the use of Open Source technology.

I have been part of Joomla leadership for 3 years, first as a member of the Community Leadership Team, then as Events Director and now as President, having recently been unanimously re-elected for a second term.

WHY I AM RUNNING

On a personal level, I would like to be part of a wider community.  I would like to bring the insights I have gained in Joomla to OSI and to gain insights from OSI that I can bring to Joomla.

I believe that Open Source Projects are siblings and should work together rather than against each other.  At Joomla we recently created a cross-CMS Compliance initiative and I would love to see more of these come to life.

I also believe that people are just as important as code and the development of interpersonal relationships and stamping out of discrimination are tantamount to the promotion and furthering of Open Source.

Note: It appears I was lacking caffeine when this original post was written and I got my dates wrong.  Edited to reflect the true ones.
