Hi!

About Me

I'm Carol Smith, currently Secretary and board director for the OSI and a program manager at Microsoft in its Open Source Programs Office. In my time serving the OSI, I became the board sponsor of the ClearlyDefined project. ClearlyDefined focuses on clarifying license data about FOSS, a project that lines up closely with OSI's mission. I brought ClearlyDefined to the OSI over a year ago, and it has enjoyed great success since then. The OSI has benefitted culturally and financially from sponsoring ClearlyDefined.

I intend to continue shepherding and growing ClearlyDefined under the OSI. Licensing data in FOSS continues to be crucial

Why I'm Running

OSI's mission lines up well with my own experience. If I am re-elected to the board, I intend to continue and broaden my focus on:

  • ClearlyDefined.
  • Secretaryship. I intend to run for the officer position of Secretary again.
