Should we include something here related to an Affiliate shutting down, a-la inBloom?
I think we should offer OSI the chance to review Affiliate status in the event of change of name, of ownership or of operational status.
Updated, see comment inline: http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID17
"Membership classes include categories of Affiliate organizations" is not clear to me. Our Membership Classes are Affiliate and Individual, and the Affiliate class includes categories for various different types of Affiliate. I'd go ahead and reword now, but the intent is not 100% clear to me.
Updated the wording here: http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID19
The section "OSI Affiliate Member Program & Participation" is missing some explanations:
Updated here (http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID21), here (http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID22) and here (http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID23).
If we have all those different categories of Affiliate, should the application form ask the applicant to self-identify?
This could work if there are not anticipating any significant differences in the criteria for membership. For example, would a public or private college or university fit into our non-profit requirements for current Affiliates?
Should the agreement give OSI the right to identify the Affiliate as an Affiliate? We keep getting Affiliates who want a separate trademark agreement.
Added some text here: http://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Communities/Affiliate+Agreement#ID26
Added per Simons reply to my comment regarding status changes of Affiliates.
Reworded to try and add clarity. Originally this was an attempt to convey that the OSI has various Affiliate Membership programs, and therefore there might be different requirements, and thus agreements. For example, a University might not meet the requirements of a non-profit.
