OPEN SOURCE INITIATIVE (OSI) ANNOUNCES NEW AFFILIATE MEMBER

Palo Alto, California — The Open Source Initiative (www.opensource.org) is very pleased to announce DemocracyLab (http://democracylab.org/) has joined the OSI as an Affiliate Member. DemocracyLab works to collaboratively construct online civic engagement systems that will productively focus collective intelligence. Their portfolio of tools provide communities with online resources that help identify problems, construct solutions, make decisions, and take collaborative action. In addition, as a sponsor of several democracy-related projects, DemocracyLab serves as a hub for the discussion, discovery and design of civic-oriented technology and communities. "The mission and vision at Democracy Lab was built upon shared values of open source software; transparency, meritocracy of ideas, and open participation. It simply makes sense DLab should become an OSI affiliate." said Deb Bryant who serves on both the Democracy Lab and also OSI Boards.
